For me, much of my journey was a battle of trying to work out what exactly God had promised me and how much I was supposed to do to bring about his promises.
My husband and I were trying for eight and a half years before we conceived our son. As anyone who has struggled with infertility will know, our story is too long to be told here. But I just want to recognise and thank Dr Magee, Ira and all at Fiat FertilityCare for their crucial role in helping us to finally start a family. In particular I will always remember what Dr Magee said during one consultation: "We do everything we can and trust God with the rest." For me, much of my journey was a battle of trying to work out what exactly God had promised me and how much I was supposed to do to bring about his promises. Dr Magee's words brought balance to my two extremes of striving to do everything and beating myself up for not having enough faith to simply wait. When tests on the NHS showed no reason for our inability to conceive, we were offered IVF. My gut feeling was that there WAS a problem and I desperately wanted to fix the problem and not bypass it. I felt the issue was probably endometriosis but since I was not presenting with any symptoms, I did not qualify for the invasive operation required to diagnose and treat it. I must say I am immensely grateful for our NHS and by no means wish to imply we didn't get a lot of help from them (for example by kind doctors who allowed me to get blood tests done for Fiat on the NHS), however it's important to note there are limitations in their current understanding of fertility. The tests done by Fiat were much more thorough and several issues were discovered and addressed. When symptoms did not respond to treatment, Dr Magee agreed that endometriosis was the most likely cause. He referred me to one of the top consultants in the country (who cut the endometriosis out rather than simply lasering it). One month after surgery, my husband and I were thrilled to discover we had conceived! Our son was born in August 2018. To our great delight, we conceived again six months later and our daughter was born in December 2019. I am so grateful for the work of Fiat and I wish it was more readily available to more couples. Not only were they pivotal in restoring our natural fertility, but I am also VERY in tune with my body thanks to the hugely empowering tools of the Creighton method.
