Against all odds - Simon and Claire's story
Posted on 30th January 2025 at 10:27
Two years ago, having 0-1% chance of conceiving naturally and feeling lost, we embarked on a natural fertility journey after being told by the NHS our only real chance of conceiving was via IVF. We did not feel we could ethically do this while also feeling the pangs of desperation of wanting to become parents.
I (Simon) am a simple guy, more comfortable with burgers than berries, and change isn't always my friend. That's where Ira Winter entered our lives, a beacon of knowledge and support in a confusing sea.
Ira didn't just suggest changes, she understood them.
There were moments of doubt, stubbornness rearing its ugly head. But Ira never wavered. She was a constant cheerleader, celebrating small victories and offering encouragement when things felt rough. Her expertise shone through, but even more impressive was her genuine care. She truly invested in our journey, teaching us how to do charting, suggesting supplements for both of us etc.
And guess what? It worked! We now have a four month old little boy who is the light of our lives. It wasn't an easy road, but looking back, every sacrifice, every charting session, feels worth it. And a huge chunk of that credit goes to Ira Winter.
If I could forward a piece of advice to myself two years ago (where I had some parameters at 0% level) I would say: just do what Ira says!
If you're a couple considering the natural path, unsure and maybe a little intimidated by change, get in touch with Ira. She'll walk beside you, explain the science in terms you understand. She'll also give you contacts for other specialists and believe in you even when you doubt yourself.
